Shannon Hurst, FNP
In 2006, Shannon Hurst attended Daemen and Trocaire college in Buffalo, where she received her associates and bachelors degree in nursing. During Shannon’s first year of being a Registered Nurse in 2010, she wanted to give back through her work and endeavored on her first medical missions trip to the Dominican Republic through The Chapel at CrossPoint and Score International. Since then, she has ventured on over 17 medical missions trips to the Dominican Republic and as well as a few in Haiti. There her team was able to perform wellness clinics, fulfill medication needs, perform small special procedures as well as ambulatory surgeries in local hospitals. During each of these trips, predominantly 70% of the patients her team assessed were of pediatric age, where she then grew a love for Pediatrics. At home, Shannon spent her first 10 years of her career working for Catholic Health in the cardiovascular unit and Intensive Care. Shannon has worked in many inpatient ICU settings, including Open Heart Unit, Trauma, Cardiac, Medical, Surgical, and Neuro ICU’s. During this time she also completed multiple travel nursing contracts in between her work for local ICU’s throughout New York State. In 2018, Shannon returned to D’Youville College to complete her Masters degree in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program and graduated in May 2020. In April 2020, Shannon was able to travel to NYC to help out with the Covid Response for a community hospital in the ICU in an underserved area. With her love for pediatrics, Shannon decided to join our team in September 2020.
